Park Cinquantenaire aka Schuman Park

Maximum duration of my stay in Brussels was in the Etterbeek. The key selling point of this location is this awesome park which is just situated next to the Metro station. Better known as "Park Cinquantenaire " or "Schuman Park" as we renamed it. Only Popo has been able to remember the full name and pronounce it correctly till date. This one is a compliment Popo !

For guy's it has been the Mecca of cricket in Brussels. I don't know a single friend who had not ventured out to play cricket on this ground on a warm and sunny day. The game of cricket was introduced to the city of Brussels by these Indian guys who spent weekends playing cricket from morning till night. And ended it with a durum wrap from the metro shop.

Cricket Match on a weekend

For me this place has been like a wall. I have ventured into it on a sunny day just to catch up with friends, have a cup of ice-cream, on lonely and gloomy days when the mind was clouded with emotions, on snowy days just to see the kids play and capture the beauty of the snow laden park. The fresh air the, the sound of the rustling leaves, the greenery, the huge expanse always helped me make peace with my mind.
Some memorable moments spent there were evenings that we (the triplets/ or stumps as some named us) went jogging in the park. The gossip, the run, the sweat and finally the rest under those huge trees ended the day with a smile. Even today I remember and laugh at the moments spent there. Whether me and Pri actually concentrated on our chakras or whether we dozed off below those trees after the jog will always remain a mystery.

Resting Point/ Chakra Point

As of today whenever I feel the wind against my face in the neighborhood park or I go for a jog I am reminded of those times well spent. I wish I could take along "Schuman park" wherever I travel in my life.
